Our story

It started with one more story.

We’re parents of a big, busy family. BellaBye began at the end of a long day, with a little girl asking for one more story, and two tired parents trying to think of a new one.

That little girl is our daughter, Bella. BellaBye is named after her.
Chapter 1

A big family, and a long day

Ours is a big family, with more cousins than we can count. So bedtime often means more than one child, each wanting their own story.

Some nights they want an old favourite, told exactly the same way. Other nights they want something brand new, starring themselves, the dog and possibly a dragon. At the end of a long day, thinking up something new, again and again, is harder than it sounds.

We wanted to make bedtime a little easier for parents, and a lot more magical for children.

Chapter 2

Never instead of books

We love books. We read them every night, and we always will. BellaBye isn’t here to replace them. It’s here to add to them.

Every story we make can become a picture book in one click, ready to print, hold and read together. And every story is yours to play again tomorrow, or to share privately with someone who’d love it.

Chapter 3

Bringing faraway voices home

Not everyone we love lives around the corner. Grandparents in another country. An uncle across the ocean. A parent away for work.

We wanted the people our children miss to be part of bedtime too. Now their voice can read tonight’s story, wherever they are, and feel a little closer.

Chapter 4

Stories all about them

No two children are the same, so no two stories should be either. You tell us about your child once: their name, their best friend, the dog, the imaginary friend who goes everywhere with them, their favourite colours and the things they love.

Then every story is made around them, and grows with them, from age 2 to 12.

Chapter 5

A story for what tonight needs

Stories have always helped children through big moments. A trip to the dentist tomorrow. A first time on stage. Missing someone who lives far away.

A gentle story, with your child as the hero, can help them feel braver, and a little less alone.

And there’s more: the picture style, the colours, the kind of tale, a gentle lesson, how funny it is, and who joins in.

Chapter 7

A happy thought to fall asleep on

Most stories are told just before sleep, so ours are made to help. They grow calmer as they go, can end on a sleepy note, and leave your child with a kind, happy thought to drift off to.

Because the best way to end a day is together.

Sweet dreams, Grace.
Stories that ask questions backQuestions after the story to talk about together, points for listening and answering, and a toy collection to grow. All to help little listeners stay curious and attentive.

Our goal is simple: the world’s best storytelling for children.

Not to replace the books on the shelf, or the cuddles at bedtime, but to add a little more magic to them, in the voices your child loves. BellaBye works on any phone, tablet or computer, wherever you are in the world.

If BellaBye helps your family end the day together, on a happy thought, then we’ve done what we set out to do.
